Celebrating Portland Pride Together

Pride is always a time of community and joy for me. This year, I have coupled that with some civic engagement. On Thursday, I planned a queer candidate social hour meet and greet at Crush Bar, where constituents were invited to come and get to know the queer candidates that are running for Portland City Council in District 3 and across the whole city. This election has given us an unprecedented opportunity for representation in City Hall and it has important to me to build community and uplift all of the LGBTQIA+ candidates in the race.

On Saturday, I was thankful for the opportunity to attend the groundbreaking of Darcelle XV Plaza. Darcelle was an institution in Portland and seeing her show was one of the very first things my partner and I did after moving to Portland three years ago. Being surrounded by her friends and family, sharing memories and celebrating her legacy, was truly something special.

And what would Pride be without the parade? This was my first time marching in any parade, but Luke for PDX was out in full force. Our small but mighty team walked the Portland Pride Parade with the Multnomah County Democrats and many of the other City Council candidates, sharing in the love and celebration.

Onward, Together
