Luke Goes on Portland Clean Energy Fund Tour
One of my favorite things about being a candidate has been the opportunities for hands-on learning about important work that the city does in collaboration with the community. Today, thanks to the coordination of 350PDX, Verde, and the Bird Alliance of Oregon, a crew of candidates were taken on a tour around the city to four different project sites that are receiving funds from the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF). This innovative program takes revenue from a corporate tax and invests that money into community-led projects that work toward climate justice and resilience, particularly those that support vulnerable priority populaitons.
The tour included a visit to the Goodling Solar Annex, the new Burnside location for Street Roots, the sustainable and just food systems at Zenger Farm, and the outdoor learning area that Depave PDX revitalized at Oliver Middle School. It was truly heartening to see such vital funds in action and creating a positive impact on our communities firsthand.
Onward, Together
