Mayoral Candidates Attend Mixer in District 3

Yesterday, neighborhood coalitions SE Uplift and Neighbors West-Northwest invited the six candidates for Portland Mayor to a mixer at the Laurelhurst Club to speak directly to constituents. The evening was hosted by guest emcee Poison Waters, who guided us through the event as all six candidates shared their visions for the future of our city.

Several focus areas showed up as motifs across stump speeches, including prioritizing public safety, addressing the intertwined crises of addiction and houselessness, and reinvigorating a vibrant Portland for all. Though the new Portland Mayor will be removed from the City Council and shift into an executive function, the 12 councillors elected in November will need to work collaboratively under the new government to make any of these mayoral candidates’ mandates a reality.
